  • Lake San Marcos Resort and Country Club Classes. Click here.
  • USTA Quick Start Training is for parents and anyone who is interested in receiving information on how to introduce and keep  5-10 year playing.  A guideline has been made by the USTA using the current calibrative information from the USPTA and USPTR.  Tennis is an open-ended sport, meaning it is totally unpredictable where the ball is going to go. It needs to be moving and intriguing for our children to want to play.

Dennis is a National Quick Start Trainer.  Trainings are scheduled throughout the year, locally.  Go to: USTAQuickStart.com and find out the next one, or contact Dennis.

News:

Dennis spent a follow-up week September 28th  - October 2nd at his cousin Karen's Discovery Montessori School, Port Orchard, Washington.  Nice homecoming. I definitely saw an improvement with the older students who have been practicing their basic skills.  We had one good weather day, where we could be on the tennis courts (they rented a high speed blower for me & all the pine needles & rocks came right off) Note: these are community owned courts- you can still see the lines & a new net was put up!  Most of my time was spent inside their multi-purpose room, where I had all my equipment, including a portable net.  Using balloons for their pre-schooler's really brought out the joy, and seeing serves and rallies from their older students & parents & their teachers made this time well spent!  Currently, their teacher's are doing a tennis related activity, one day a week.  Come Spring, there will be regular after school classes.

Tennis communities being served now include: Santa Fe Ranch Homes and Seagate Condominiums. Click here.

Parents, Please note:

USPTA’s Little Tennis / USPTR’s Munchkin Tennis / or USTA’s Quick Start?
What method a Pro shares with his Pee Wee’s and their parents makes all the difference! If they’re having fun, and their friends are having fun, and the pro feels their learning, while having a good time, they may choose to play for their whole life!

Tennis for Montessori Students

Last June 22-26 and September 28 through October 2nd of this year, I was at my Cousin Karen’s Discovery Montessori School in Port Orchard, Washington.

Each week I made discoveries on how to improve my skills in connecting with pre-school and k-6th grade students to their bodies through movement and by using different kinds of balls and tennis equipment.

I’ve accumulated over 30 years of teaching experience, mainly through tennis, and also as an on-call substitute teacher k-6th grades, with our local school districts.

This last year, Karen and I realized it would be good for me to come up to her school and show her, her teaching staff, and parents (I did a parent orientation, where interested parents came, played & took away a fundamental understanding) what I have learned through my professional associations (United States Professional Tennis Association  “Little Tennis”, United States Professional Tennis Registry “Kids Tennis” and United States Tennis Associations “Quick Start”) and do a condensed version  for one week at her school, just to see how everyone liked it. (Click here to see her reference letter)

Each day I would do 3-6 classes (3 in morning with preschoolers and 3 in the afternoon for k-6th graders. In June, the nicer weather permitted us to be outside, while in September, we spent more time in a multi-purpose room (using a portable net and all kinds of innovative teaching aids, including balloons and 4 different kinds of balls.

With the parents and teaching staff, they continued with basic tennis related activities through the summer, so when I returned in September, many students had improved their basic skills.  Tennis is unique in that it is a sport in which the whole family can play once basic skills are acquired. (ground strokes-volleying & serving).

I am now offering these unique classes for your students, teachers, and parents.  If you are interested in getting this started at your school, please email me at dtenisball@aol.com or call me at 760-602-1013.  My compensation would be based on what kind of program would you like, number of students and classes. Either myself or one of my professionals would come on a weekly basis (2 or 3x’s a week) for a 6 week period.

I realize each Montessori School is unique, so please let me know how we might start bouncing at your school!
